Hi, I’m Jamey…
Well, Shanae is my first name and Jamey is my middle name, but I’ve been known to answer to both.
I’m the founder and co-owner of Jamey’s Tea along with my husband, Kojo.
Fun fact: When it came to thinking up a name for this little venture, I tried “Shanae’s Tea,” but didn’t have the same ring to it, so I chose to use my middle name instead.
I am a wife, a music teacher and a certified “tea snob” (according to my husband).
Jamey’s Tea is my way of sharing my passion for tea with you.
It all started because of Grandma…
It all started when my mother and I were visiting my late-grandmother in Pictou, Nova Scotia. She was an avid tea-lover and she took me to the kitchen to prepare some tea. She was eager to tell me of a homemade tea recipe for a creamy Chai tea she learned from her trips abroad.
Boiling some water on the stove, she explained how fresh tea was good for the soul instructed me to add some black tea leaves and add cardamon seeds, whole cloves and fennel seed and gradually stir in some whole milk. The aroma that came from the brew was enough to make me pause and take in the warm spices.
What came of it was the best cup of tea I probably had ever had. We poured the tea into a couple of mugs and shared a sip. I remember her letting out a pleasing hum and a little chuckle. Following each visit there after, she bequeathed to me the responsibility of preparing her a homemade cup of Chai.
She was the one who fostered within me a love and passion of preparing fresh tea. In fact, the very same Chai recipe she taught me can be tasted in our signature Chai blend.
If it weren’t for her, Jamey’s Tea wouldn’t have existed.

A Humble Beginning…
It was the spring of 2017 when Jamey’s Tea officially begun. I had just turned 18 and decided that I would make and sell tea during my summer break while studying in university. I had attended a few summer markets in Pictou, and remember putting my all into each bag of tea.
After a short while, I had to pause my little venture as working during the summer became priority.
It was the late Fall of 2023 when I recalled my passion, and now with support of my then new husband, I picked it up again with an official re-brand which brings us to where Jamey’s Tea is today.
What’s brewing next?
